Toned Tan Rod

This 32 Ford hot rod was a quick sketch on Toned Tan paper. I tried to keep it very simple and clean as a call back to the artwork you might see in a 50s or 60s advertisement. I started off using a Copic N2 neutral gray sketch marker to outline the shape – I…

Another Jeep – This Time with a Landscape

I was recently fortunate enough to get this job as a commissioned set of three. I started out with ink pen outline using Faber Castell 0.3mm, and shaded with Copic Marker. Posca white was used for reflections. This one is a bit larger than I typically make, and it took an 11×14 frame rather than…

Blue 1969 Camaro

Here’s a 1969 Camaro base model in baby blue – turned out to have a cartoon-ish feel, kind of like in old car brochures from the 50s and 60s. Roughed in #2 pencil, detailed with Copic markers, and finished with ink pen. First, I roughed out the shape with boxes using the ruler for proportion…

Sometimes, Just Experiment.

Everything doesn’t have to be just perfect all the time – sometimes, it’s important to experiment, let your hair down and just relax and do whatever. 1970 GTO, Take II

I’m torn about the Judge I drew over the weekend, so I made another GTO drawing. I’m still trying to work out the nuances of what I like and don’t like about my drawings. For instance, whether to outline the separations between color shades with ink pen…On this GTO, I mostly left them out and…

1970 Pontiac GTO Judge

The Judge package was introduced in 1969 and carried on in 1970 and again for a short period in 1971. Pontiac gave the GTO a redesign in 1970, removing the hide-away headlights from the ’69 model year. The ’70 GTO has been featured in several feature films including Two Lane Blacktop and Dazed and Confused.

1970 Dodge Coronet

The 1970 Coronet had a very polarizing effect on people – it had a very “love it or hate it” face. The designers at Chrysler were bold and used scowling eyebrow features in the grille. Unfortunately this face was used for only one year and a brought the Coronet back to a more conservative grille…

1955 Ford Fairlane

I made this marker sketch for my Mamaw for Christmas. It’s a 1955 Ford Fairlane in waterfall blue – her first car.
