Inktober, Part 2
Wow, what a busy week! Still, sketching must go on for Inktober, the challenge where we try to sketch one picture each day given a word prompt. Here’s Inktober, Part 2.
Day 4: Radio

Radio Flyer is an American icon, making red wagons for kids since the early 1900s. How cool would it be to build a Radio Flyer-inspired hot rod? I like this sketch, especially the hatch work. I chose to give it steel wheels (my favorite, and coincidentally the easiest to draw), side pipes drawn from a blown flat head, a deep-pleated interior, and an Ed Roth-style monster shifter. The Radio Flyer logo is 1950s vintage.
Day 5: Blade
The best I could do on this one was the car that Blade, the vampire hunter drives – a 1968 Dodge Charger.

The second-gen Charger is my favorite car. That said, I don’t like this sketch. The proportions turned out wonky, the car looks bent, the hatching isn’t great, nor is the line work. Oh well, they can’t all be winners.
Day 5: Rodent
This one is a little too obvious, but here is a rat rod with a blown 454 Rat motor.

I actually love this sketch – it just felt good. The line work was familiar and just laid down, the hatching works for the most part, and I dig the rat character on the door. Unfortunately, I spilled coffee on the paper.
So that’s it for Inktober, Part 2. Stay tuned for Part 3 coming soon!
