Caprice Wagon

Those who know me know that I have a penchant for Malaise and boxy cars. There’s a subtle sexiness about the boxy Caprice of the late 70’s and 80’s. Even better, here’s a wagon version perfect for hauling all the groceries, and clad in Cragar SS wheels. 

Ludwig Vistalite Drums

A few years ago I bought this 1976 Ludwig Vistalite kit. I love the boominess of the acrylic shells. The Vistalite series was made iconic in the ’70s by John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, though his was amber colored, a much rarer option.  Here’s a quick sketch of some blue Vistalites:

1973 Eleanor Mustang

The original Gone in 60 Seconds film from 1974 featured a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 that Madrian Pace wheels around the Los Angeles area during a 40-minute chase scene. Here’s an acrylic on canvas painting of the car after rubbing bumpers with the LA Fuzz. 

1983 Volkswagen GTI Marker Sketch

VW Launched the GTI in 1976 – the original hot hatch performance vehicle – needed for people who like to have fun in the face of an impending oil crisis.  Here is a 1983 version:
