June Recap

June Recap

June was a fun month: It wasn’t too busy, but there was still plenty to work on! Here’s a quick June Recap of what’s been going on with my artwork this month.

I had an awesome opportunity to collaborate with a client to draw this beautiful 1927 Chrysler street rod. The car is drawn using Micron pens on white cardstock, and rendering using Copic markers. I love the Weld Drag Star rims and Hoosier tires on this car – I think it looks like it’s ready to tear your face off!

Thank you Ron for the opportunity to draw your dad’s beautiful hot rod! I love the way the reflections turned out in the body work on the drawing, and I love the way it looks framed – I hope he loves it!

I also had the opportunity to draw this awesome 1950 Chevy 3100 truck. I’ve drawn several 3100s, and I get excited every time I get a 3100 request. It’s just a classic.

Unlike a lot of these trucks, this one remains pretty stock and it’s a beautiful form! This truck was drawn using Micron pens and Copic black on cardstock to form a purely black and white drawing. I love this style – it may be my favorite!

The atmosphere in the linework really makes the truck pop off the page. Thank you Steve for the opportunity to draw your truck – it’s a real pleasure!

It looks great in this 11×14 frame!

We had one show this month: the Sloan Auto Fair in Flint.

It was a lot of fun to set up and see some familiar faces, some old friends, and some cars I drew last year. There were a lot of cool cars at the show and I snapped this sweet picture of a Delorean in front of the Sloan museum.

While we were in between customers, I sketched this sail boat:

It was a lot of fun to be at the show this year. Lastly, I sketched this home portrait for a friend who just moved into a new house!

That’s all for this June Recap. I have some fun things planned for July so stay tuned!

    Great work Aaron,
I have tried to sketch a number of those hot rods with various levels of success as I have with various pick up trucks of a similar era and , there is one down the street which I plan to sketch.
Also I did a watercolour painting of a friend’s house .hey sold it earlier this year as my friend and ex colleague passed away leaving a 20×30′ model railway layout which he built above a specially designed garage- what a shame.
of course I have also done a few ships.
I never seem able to reach that level of quality that you do but I keep trying
    Regards
    Charlie

Wow thanks Charlie! Really sorry to hear about your friend passing. Your work is great – don’t worry about comparing to others’ work, just get the satisfaction of doing it, and keep sharing it with us. It’s the journey, not the destination.

      Cheers!
      Aaron
