September Car Art
September was a great month for us! One of the biggest and greatest car shows in Michigan – the Frankenmuth Auto Fest – takes place the weekend after Labor Day and this was our second year vending there. It’s a truly incredible event with well over 2,000 cars in attendance.
I was fortunate enough to get a repeat customer order of this beautiful 2019 Chevy Camaro SS – thank you so much Jeff for the opportunity to make this drawing for you!
The Frankenmuth Auto Fest is an annual three-day event that attracts over 2,000 classic and specialty cars from all over the Midwest. It’s one of the largest shows in the region. Last year was our first year to set up and sell at the show, and this year was even better!
It’s amazing how many people and cars attend this show. I spent hours walking the show grounds area over the three day event and didn’t see everything! Judging by the pictures, you might say there were a few people!
One of the highlights of the show was getting to meet the son of Big Daddy Ed Roth – ‘Lil Daddy Dennis Roth! Ed Roth is hailed as one of the greatest car customizers of all time, but his son Dennis is a known customizer in his own right! It was a lot of fun for me to get to meet him and chat for a few minutes!
I got the chance to make some quick sketches for some folks at the show. The owners of this little Chevy Luv asked me to do this last year and I declined. It bugged me all year that I said no – I should have just done it! This year they were back and I got a chance to redeem myself!
I’m super grateful to all my customers who are willing to spend their hard-earned money on artwork I create – it’s a huge honor! Thank you!
I’ve wanted to try notebook artwork for awhile and finally made the plunge this month. Here are a couple examples of notebooks I’ve worked on and made available for sale.
The hot rod with spark plug was hand drawn on the notebook using Micron pens. The black and white roadster was a bit of an experiment. I’ve had an appreciation for stencil graffiti art for awhile and wanted to try it here. I think it turned out pretty cool!
One of my commission pieces this month was this beautiful 1967 Impala ss427. I had a lot of fun drawing this car. I think the dark red paint and raised white letter tires really set this car off! Thank you Katie for the opportunity to make this drawing for you!
I also got the opportunity to draw this amazing 1967 Shelby Cobra. This car is what dreams are made of! This was my first Cobra drawing it was surprisingly complex because there isn’t a single flat panel on the entire car!
Another first for me was this beautiful 2020 Shelby GT500. These cars are truly amazing. This car was one of the most challenging drawings I’ve made due to the detailed complexity in the grille area. It took me about an hour to just study where all the lines go! Thank you so much Jeff for the opportunity to draw these incredible machines for you!
Christmas Gifts: The Christmas season for me is starting now. This is a pretty busy season as everyone is getting their Christmas gifts in order. That said, if you’ve been considering purchasing a drawing as a Christmas gift, I only have 15 spots available and I urge you to put your order in now.
