More Harry Potter Drawings

My wife is brilliant. She came up with the idea to sketch Harry Potter motifs and designs on old Harry Potter book pages. They look really cool framed, too. The yellowed aged pages contrast with the white mat perfectly. Altogether, the Harry Potter sketches have been very popular, especially the Knight Bus drawings. Car people, book lovers, and Harry Potter fans all seem to like them. My friend Shannan asked if I could do a couple more Harry Potter drawings for her office.

This is actually my fourth Knight Bus drawing, and the second version from this perspective. I made a couple changes on this one, shading the fender bottoms all the way to black and giving the “Knight Bus” lettering the proper white letters.

I was really proud of the line work on this drawing. The lines came out nice and clean. I think this perspective looks almost 3D in the linework as the bus comes at you out of the page!

The line work was all done using Micron pens and the rendering was done using Copic purples.

I also made a Three Broomsticks sketch featuring the brooms and lantern as they would hang above the entrance door. I was especially excited about how cool this drawing turned out!

The fine line weight of the Micron pens really shine here. I layered in the bristles of the brooms to give them texture. I also used full-black shading similar to some of my hot rod drawings to make the brooms pop.

Finally, I used skin tones, grays, and blues to render the drawing. Also note that this is the page where Ron suggests they go to the Three Broomsticks for a butterbeer! I think that makes for a fun correlation between the artwork and the page it’s drawn on.

Finally, I framed the pages in matted 8×10 frames. Thanks Shannan for the opportunity to make just a couple more Harry Potter drawings!
