Knight Bus Drawing
At our house, we’re pretty big Harry Potter fans. I’ve made a few Knight Bus drawings and the Harry Potter stuff is always a big hit with the less hot rod loving people. As I get ready for shows this summer, I wanted to make sure to have a knight bus drawing available for sale, so here’s another one!
I still have a bunch of pages from my Prisoner of Azkaban book that I had been using to make these little fandom sketches, so I made sure to pick a page from the Knight Bus chapter. The header looks cool above the bus drawing when it’s framed.
I started with a rough sketch in pencil. To make this drawing a little different, I added a large lightning bolt to the bottom of the page. This helps take up some of the empty space, too.
Next, I lined the drawing with Micron pens. The side of the bus is so flat, it’s tough to get much depth in the line work.
I used Copic grays to fill out the grille and tires. The windows have a gray fade from top to bottom as the landscape would be reflected. I used Copic yellow for the lightning bolt.
I used a couple different Copic purples to render the body. At first I left the very bottom of the body a light purple in an attempt to give a unique lighting effect but I didn’t like it. I ended up leaving a streak of light reflection and filling in the rest.
Finally, I used Posca white to accentuate the brightest areas of light reflection.
This was a little different take on the knight bus. It’s a little simpler and will make a fun addition to someone’s bedroom!
