Quinjet Drawing
My friend Stan is a big Marvel fan and asked if I could made a Quinjet drawing for him. To be honest, I’m a pretty big Marvel fan too, so this was an awesome request – and a unique departure from hot rods. I’ve done a few airplanes for friends, but this was my first fiction aircraft.

I started the drawing with a basic line sketch using Micron 005 on gray paper. 005 is the thinest line weight I have and I thought it made a nice clean line drawing. There are a lot of cool little details or “greebles” as Lucasfilm artists would call them.

Next, I re-traced some of the Quinjet again with Micron 005 to add some thickness to give the vehicle some depth and pop off the page.

I dropped the shadow under the Quinjet to give the appearance that it’s lifting off the ground. Once the linework was complete, I started the rendering with Copic markers. Blues and blue-greens were first, making up the canopy glass.

Next, I used a variety of neutral grays to render the body of the Quinjet drawing.

I used white charcoal pencil to add some fluffy fog around the Quinjet, and to accentuate the VTOL jets under the wings.

Finally, I cropped and framed the Quinjet drawing in 8×10. Thanks Stan for letting me draw this for you! I hope you enjoy it!
