1962 Corvette Drawing
I had quite a few Corvette requests last year: about half a dozen or so. This 1962 Corvette drawing was my last Christmas delivery of the year, actually on Christmas eve!
I love the C1 Corvette – it’s such an iconic and timeless shape. The long hood and short rear deck accentuate the forward motion of the car. The raised rear haunches echo a muscled wild animal ready to pounce. The side scallops are unmistakably Corvette.
The week I drew this Corvette was a busy time for me, wrapping up projects for a few people, so I didn’t get as many in-process shots as I usually like to.
I started the drawing off with a rough line sketch in pencil on toned gray paper. The drawing is a simple side view but from the perspective of the viewer, raised a couple feet above the belt line. This allows you to see a small portion of the hood and trunk area and gives the drawing a slightly 3D feel.
Once I was happy with the rough sketch, I lined the drawing with Micron pens 01 & 05. The thicker line weight adds some depth to the drawing. Next, I used Copic blues to render the body. These hubcaps are familiar and have showed up on a few of my drawings lately.
Finally, I cropped and framed this 1962 Corvette drawing in an 8×10 frame with 5×7 mat. I think the white mat accents the reflective details in the car’s chrome and body.
Thanks Bodey for the opportunity to draw this beautiful ’62!

Wow! Great realistic drawing of the 62 Vette. They are my favorite Vette year. Never owned one yet but who knows, I may get one some day.
Do it!
