1958 Chevy Apache Drawing
I love old trucks, and loved having the privilege of making this 1958 Chevy Apache drawing for my father in law for Christmas.
I chose this truck be cause he used to have one just like it, years ago. First, I drew the rough outline in pencil on toned gray paper, and then lined the drawing with Micron 01 pen.
I did all the line work on this truck using Micron 01 – both the base layer and the thicker atmospheric lines. I was really proud of the line work on this truck – I thought it turned out very clean!
Next, I used thicker line weight Micron pens and Sharpie to fill in the shadow under the truck and inside the cab. I tilted the angle of the truck so the viewer is looking down slightly into the bed and top of the fender. It gives the truck a slightly three-dimensional look.
Finally, I added a little bit of Copic light grays to give the body some texture and depth. White charcoal pencil was used to highlight the light reflections in the fenders, windshield, and hubcaps.
Once this 1958 Chevy Apache drawing was complete, I cropped it and mounted it inside a shadow box. He’s a fisherman and loves fishing, so I added some fishing motifs along with the truck drawing. Merry Christmas, Steve!
