1969 Camaro Drawing
At the shows we vended at this year, 1969 Camaro drawings were definitely among the most requested. I had only made a couple available for sale and they sold quick, so I had to turn a few people away. I did receive this 1969 Camaro drawing commission request from some cool folks for their dad!
They asked for the large size – which is 14×18 and actually too large for me to scan. I also only have gray paper available that’s large enough to fit the frame! I started with a rough pencil sketch on the gray paper.
Next, I lined the drawing with Micron pen 01. I thought the line work turned out very clean on this drawing.
I used a heavier weight pen to add some atmosphere and pop the drawing off the page. This is the point where I think the drawing really starts to look cool!
I used a variety of Copic neutral grays to shade in the tires and shadow.
Grays were also used for the grille – I layered them in from front to back to get the light gradient effect.
Next, I began the body rendering starting with pink and opening up to a variety of red tones.
The light reflections were added in using white charcoal pencil and Posca white paint. I used light grays to give the windshield a reflective appearance.
Finally, I framed and matted the drawing in 14×18. Thank you Laura and Cole for the opportunity to honor your father and his beautiful car with this 1969 Camaro drawing! What a machine!
