C1 Corvette Drawing
I’ve had a few Corvettes come through over the past couple years, but this is the first C1 Corvette drawing I’ve done. I was fortunate to meet a gentleman at the Frankenmuth Auto Fest this year who asked for a drawing of his beautiful first-gen.
I started with a rough sketch in pencil on Canson marker paper.
Next, I lined the drawing with Micron 005. It was a little smaller than I typically line with but mid-fifties cars have a lot of small details that can be tough to capture with heavier line weights.
With the linework completed, I used Copic black to fill in the dark shaded areas and shadows. This is my favorite progression shot of the car – I really like the way the chrome turned out.
Next, I used Copic grays to fill in the scallop and chrome. I put a little light blue in the bumper and hubcaps for sky reflection.
The body paint was done using a variety of Copic reds – there were two shades of pink and three shades of red in the body.
Finally, I used Posca white to add some bright light reflections.
The drawing looks good framed and matted in 11×14 and ready to go to its new home!
Thank you Joe and Marie for letting me memorialize your beautiful car with this C1 Corvette drawing!
