Frankenmuth Auto Fest
We were fortunate to be a part of the Frankenmuth Auto Fest this past weekend in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The Auto Fest is one of the largest car shows in the Midwest with over 2,500 registered specialty cars and more than 150,000 spectators annually. This year, we were privileged to be art vendors at this huge event!
We were on-site in the vendor area with many framed original drawings available, as well as stickers, pins, and a handful of prints.
We had a lot of interest in the original art that we had available in the tent, but one thing I noticed was that most people are really looking for art of their own car. This seems obvious thinking about it after the fact, but it’s difficult if not impossible to have every year, make, model, and options package ready at hand.
That means I need to get to a point where I can make sketches on the fly. Being able to create a drawing of customer’s car on the fly for a low price would be a great souvenir from the show.
I did meet a few really cool people with some really cool cars and had a chance to make some real-time quick sketches for them for fun.
I thought it might also be fun to do some live sketching in the tent while spectators ducked in and out. I think it’s fun to watch artists do their thing and I brought a few pens with me, so why not?
All in all, it was an amazing weekend with my family. We met a lot of really cool people, awesome vendors, and saw a lot of really neat cars. We’re already looking forward to next year, and I’ve got some ideas to make our presentation and product offerings even better!
