Dragula Drawing
Last week, I drew a 1955 Pontiac with some vintage family vacation motifs. This week, I wanted to draw something that incorporated some vintage horror design elements. What better car to fit that bill than George Barris’ Dragula from The Munsters TV show? Here’s my Dragula Drawing.
I love the Dragula car because it’s a proper dragster designed by the great hot rodder, George Barris. Barris is famous for participating in various elements of the design and build of many film cars including the Munsters Koach, Beverly Hillbillies car, the original Batmobile, General Lee, Ecto-1 and others.
I started with a basic pencil sketch on water color paper, which is very thick. Next, I inked the linework using Micron 03.
Next, I used Micron 08 to add some atmospheric perspective, making the car pop out a little off the page.
Finally, I used Copic markers to detail the color. The casket is a variety of yellow and tan. I used Posca white to add a few small splashes of light reflection to the Dragula Drawing.
