Fabulous Hudson Hornet Drawing
It’s no secret that one of my absolute favorite post-war cars is the Hudson – Hornet, and all similar trims. It was such a revolutionary vehicle – one of the first unibody full size cars you could step down in, high powered “Twin H-Power” six cylinder, and a sleek streamliner design. One of the coolest representations of the early ’50s Hudsons was the NASCAR-prepped stock car, which I tried to capture in this Fabulous Hudson Hornet drawing.

I started this drawing with a quick pencil sketch on white sketch paper.

Next, I retraced the lines with Micron 01 using a variety of ship curves.

After the base line work was complete, I added in some layering with thicker line weight Micron pens. From there, I filled in the car with Copic markers. I used three different blues for the body, three reds for the wheels, and yellow for the “Hornet” script. The marker work was tough working around the lettering.

Finally, I added some flavor with a Copic W3 wide and red pen to outline the car body.
I think the Copic W3 gives the drawing a cool vintage-y look to contrast against this Fabulous Hudson Hornet drawing.
