Christmas Tree Truck Drawing
There are only eleven days until Christmas! This time each year, we decorate in preparation for Christmas, and each year the red classic pick up truck hauling the Christmas Tree shows up in various forms. This year, I wanted to try my hand at making my own Christmas Tree truck drawing.
I started the truck with a simple pencil sketch on toned gray paper. This is one of my favorite perspectives – looking up at a 3/4 front view.
Next, I laid in the line work starting a little thicker than normal – using Micron 02.
I followed that up with thicker Micron 08 lines to add some perspective.
Next, I laid in the dark shading with Micron 08 and Sharpie. I also drew in the Christmas tree using Micron 01 in a unique and random hatch scribble blurb.
Finally, I added in the Posca white for the light reflection. I chose not to outline the truck in white because I didn’t want to compromise the tree.
I hot rodded the truck a little bit. I lowered it and added big white wall tires. I added side exit twin-tip exhaust, shaved the door handles, and rolled the front pan. I was a little concerned about how the truck would look sans front bumper but I’m really glad I did it – I think it gives the Christmas tree truck drawing a sleek look.
I have a couple more thing lined up for Christmas cheer, but this is what I was most looking forward to, and I’m really excited how it turned out.
