Inktober Part 5
Here’s the fifth installment of my October daily car sketches, Inktober, Part 5. I’m a little behind on making posts, but I’ve done a pretty good job of staying up to date on the sketches themselves. Just a few more days!
Day 18: Trap
For “Trap,” I drew the Rat Trap altered drag car, one of the oldest still-running dragsters. The car was originally built in the late 1960s! I really like how this sketch turned out – the hatch work is clean and the sketch is simple.
Day 20: Coral
This was a tough one because “coral” in relation to cars generally denotes color, which I’m not doing in these sketches. So, I’ve just sketched a simple VW Beetle with Cape Coral (Florida) Surf Shop representation and a big surf board on top. This Beetle has been dropped all the way down, too.
Day 21: Sleep
The obvious choice for “Sleep” is a sleeper of some sort, and what vehicle is more of a sleeper than the Farmtruck? The truck is a 1970 Chevy long bed with a camper shell and occasionally runs sub-ten second quarter mile times. This is my favorite sketch of this set because I like the hatch work and line weights, and what’s cooler than an old raggedy pick up lifting the front tires?
That’s all for Inktober, Part 5. Stay tuned for Part 6, coming soon!
