Pizza Planet Toyota Sketch
I was six when Toy Story was released, and I have fond memories of watching it at a birthday party with friends. There’s an iconic scene with the “YO” delivery truck, and I started thinking, what if the delivery driver fixed his old Toyota up to take to car shows? That’s what I tried to capture with this Pizza Planet Toyota Sketch.
The mini truck scene is pretty hot, and there’s lots of cool JDM parts you can throw at an old Hilux – so what would the Pizza Planet delivery driver do to his old truck?
First, I think stance and wheel/tire choice is everything, so after all the bodywork and rust repair was done, I think he’d put on a nice set of SSR MK-II rims on some fat tires to fill out the wheel wells. For performance, an aftermarket set of trumpet individual throttle bodies through the hood and side-exit exhaust would give a goo d throaty tune. Finally, lose the cap and rocket-globe, and put on some fresh decals .
Here’s the rough pencil sketch. It’s very rough because I used sketch paper that has a lot of tooth – which means it has a tendency to smear graphite. Lots of smudges.
Next, I filled in the body work with Copic yellows, colored the wheels (red, of course) and tires, and details. Finally, I added a red outline for contrast.
