1964 Plymouth Belvedere Drawing
I’ve recently been sorting through some of my old toys and spending time reminiscing about the ones that I really loved playing the most as a kid. While I did have some G.I. Joes, Star Wars toys, and Legos, most of them were vehicles. One of my favorite cars was a 1:64 scale 1964 Plymouth stock car that I actually found on a playground. It’s pretty beat up and has been properly played with, but I really thought it was cool anyway. So, I made this 1964 Plymouth Belvedere drawing to memorialize it.

I made my drawing a little different build style of car – this one is a big-tire drag car rather than a stock car. The drawing doesn’t have the side exit exhaust or the roll bar, but it does have the heavy raked stance.

The rough pencil sketch went pretty quickly because the body is very angular. I used ship curves on a few surfaces like the belt line, but most of these were just free hand.

I used Canson marker paper for this 1964 Plymouth Belvedere drawing. After the rough sketch, made the linework with Micron pens and sharpie. There are no actual markers on this one – the pens are used for the shading.

Here’s the toy car. It was made by Racing Champions, and has a pretty cool side exhaust and roll bar. The wheels are steel stock car wheels and roll freely. As you can see, it’s been pretty well roughed up, but I still loved playing with it!
