4th of July Drawing
Happy Independence Day! What better way to celebrate our patriotism than with a 4th of July drawing of a classic flat fender Jeep?
I thought it would be fun to overlay this rig over the stars and stripes, all in black ink.
This Jeep is an earlier flat fender Jeep CJ with fabric top. I started off with a rough sketch in pencil on toned gray paper.
Next, I lined the drawing with Micron 01.
Next, depth was added with Micron 03 to pop out some of the features.
Next, my favorite part: filling in the shading. I added some tread on the front right tire.
Finally, I marked off the flag (lots of measuring involved to get spacing right) and filled that in. Honestly, I put the Jeep partially in front of the stars region of the flag so I wouldn’t have to make all fifty stars. This was the most tedious part of the drawing.
I think it turned out pretty well! Next year, maybe I’ll sketch something from American Motors for my 4th of July drawing…Happy 4th, everyone!
