Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to my awesome Mom! She drove a VW Thing Type 181 in high school, so I made this sketch for her.

This one is a little bit modified – I’ve added a giant turbocharger hanging out of the back with a big velocity stack and exhaust dump. The car is lowered, the convertible top is smoothed over with a speedster-style cover (I just didn’t draw it), and the body impressions have been smoothed out (I just didn’t draw them, again). It’s rocking big fat tires with smoothie caps.

She says she had a lot of fun driving it around as a teenager, and I’m sure that’s true! Her car was bright orange, rather than the pen-and-ink black-n-white I’ve done here.

Anyway, here’s a fun twist on her first car. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
