1950 Olds 88 Marker Drawing
As you can tell, I’ve really been into 1950’s hot rods lately, and to continue on with that theme, here’s a 1950 Olds 88 marker drawing – in hot rod style.
I don’t know if I was just really not feeling it yesterday or what, but it took me a solid three tries to get the proportions right on this one. It just wasn’t going together – which is weird because side profile views are usually pretty easy – it’s just drawing in 2D!
I went with toned tan paper on this one because I really like the classic hot rod styling on the tan. It really gives it a classic look. The roof is chopped an inch or two, and rides on classic steel wheels, but way oversized and mounted to low profile white wall tires. The rear tire is a skosh larger than the front.
I really wanted to highlight the bright work so I blended a combination of fully shaded pen ink and grays/blues to make the chrome trim. Charcoal white outlines the whole car.
I made it red because Jessie bought me this trio of red markers that are designed to go together – who knew they made three-packs like this!? Perfect classic colors for this 1950 Olds 88 Marker Drawing.
