Mid-Thirties Hupmobile Aero Sketch

Mid-Thirties Hupmobile Aero Sketch

Yesterday, I made this Hupmobile Classic Car Drawing. Prior to WWII, the US was over-saturated with hundreds of car companies – most of which are now defunct. One was the Hupp Motor Company, which made the reasonably well-known Hupmobile.

The Hupmobile changed shapes dramatically over its 30-year run. The mid-30s version, the Hupmobile Aero, was sleek yet stately.

I used toned tan paper – here’s the rough pencil sketch.

Blocking in the line drawing, using a variety of Micron pen weights. I think this looks pretty nice already.

I went to charcoal white before markers on this one. I think this looks pretty sweet without any grayscale tones. I thought about leaving it like this. Maybe I’ll do another similar car with just white on tan paper.

Now it’s your turn to make your own Hupmobile Classic Car Drawing. Tag me on social media to share yours!
