Debby’s Jeep JL
Last week, I had the privilege of drawing this Jeep JL for my friends Debby and Blake for their wedding anniversary.
The Jeep is Debby’s car and means a lot to her because she’s always wanted one – it’s her dream car because of the rustic rugged look and the rough boxy edges. How cool is it that she got her dream car as her daily!?
Here’s the rough pencil sketch on sketch paper – step #1 and forming construction lines. I usually start with the wheels.
Speaking of wheels, Debby just got these Fuel D515 wheels which make her rig look pretty tough!
Here’s the line work – Micron pen starting from smallest (005) to largest (08). I went heavy on the outline which I think really helps the Jeep pop off the page.
Starting the marker work here – I chose to work in zones instead of light-to-dark. I started with the wheels and plastic trim with lighter gray tones before moving on to the body.
Finally, I filled in the body with darker grays and a black horizon line reflection on the bottom half of the body.
The finishing touch was the red taillight and orange marker light on the front, and white bright reflections done with white acrylic paint.
Awesome Jeep, Debby! Thank you for letting me draw it for you!
