Hopper Lives!

For those of us who watch Stranger Things, it was exciting to see the trailer for season 4 drop this week.

Stranger Things is full of excellent (see what I did there…?) 1980s memorabilia, sets, and especially vehicles. Chief of Police Jim Harper drives this cherry 1980 Blazer squarebody (well, until the third season anyway).

Here the truck is being roughed out in pencil, and then lined in Micron pen. I started with 005 and worked my way all the way up to 08, really thickening up the outer lines.

Next, I started in on the marker work. I used skin tones for the browns and tans. The scallop got a very light e0000 light beige, while the rest of the truck got a variety of browns. I thought it would be fun to fill in the Hawkins Lab with very 1980s pop neon pink and blue. Finally, I used white acrylic paint to create the reflective parts.
