Inktober Week #4
Just half a week left! Here are this past week’s submissions.
Day 21 – “Treasure”
The 1968 Camaro from the original 1995 Treasure Hunt is considered the “Holy Grail” of Hot Wheels cars. If you can find one, they usually sell for well over $1,000.
Day 22 – “Ghost”
The car from “The Wraith” starring Charlie Sheen – I don’t think I’ve ever seen this movie, but the car sure looks cool! It was an actual Chrysler concept car in the ’80s based on the turbo K-car platform.
Day 23 – “Ancient”
I had been wanting to draw a Duesenberg for awhile, and since they’re pretty ancient, it seemed appropriate. It was largely considered one of the first “supercars,” selling for well over 20-times a typical passenger car from the ’20s & ’30s. These would start at around $9,000 and top out near $20,000. By comparison, a Ford Model T cost around $500. Here’s a Model J version in Bic Pen only.
Day 24 – “Dizzy”
The Dizzy Lizzy was a 1908 Model T commissioned by Walt Disney for use in Main Street Parades at Disneyland. It was engineered to do wheelies. Here’s Walt doing a wheelie with Mickey in the back seat.
Day 25 – “Tasty”
I wanted to revisit the Duesenberg theme – this time with a hot rod flare, so I tricked one out. I brought the straight eight supercharger up out of the hood, chopped the top, lost the trunk, added slot mag wheels, and lightening holes. Also, this one has a two-tone styling scallop on the side. Again, only using Bic Pen for the sketch and Copic blue for the background splotch. It kind of looks like a semi cab, doesn’t it?
Day 26 – “Dark”
Here’s a silhouette of a dark hot rod coupe against a dusk-orange background. Looks good for Halloween.
Day 27 – “Coat”
Today, I really wanted to draw a Buick Grand National. It really has nothing to do with “coat” other than that it has a nice shiny coat of black paint. Here it is on toned tan paper ready to do a big turbocharged burnout.
