Inktober Week #3
Man, making a sketch each day is kicking my butt – finding the time is tough. Here’s this past week’s postings:
Day #13 – “Ash”
For this one, I thought I’d draw the Oldsmobile that Ash drives in the Evil Dead – this car was director Sam Raimi’s high school car and it shows up in all of his films. This was a quick sketch, but I think it came out pretty cool.
Day # 14 – “Overgrown”
I barely had ten minutes to do this one, so there’s actually no ink. It turned out pretty sweet anyway, though. Here’s an old Model A Ford overgrown by a tree.
Day # 15 – “Legend”
I chose Peugeot’s concept car “E-Legend” for day 15, but made it into a drag car…’cause that’s my thing . I like the way the hatch shading came out on this one.
Day # 16 – “Wild”
How wild would a rat rod Dodge Magnum be? This is one of my favorites from the Inktober set. I think the marker shading and the ink pen shading turned out really great, plus what a cool idea, right?
Day # 17 – “Ornament”
This one could have gone a couple different ways, but I chose to focus on the hood ornament of the 1957 Chevy. The chrome turned out pretty cool, but this one just wasn’t that much fun to make.
Day # 18 – “Misfit”
In terms of traditional racing cars, Herbie the Love Bug was definitely unconventional.
I chose to spend a little more time on this one and draw on toned tan. I framed this one.
Day # 19 – “Sling”
For Sling, I went with a vintage slingshot dragster. This rail is piloted by the legend Big Daddy Don Garlits, a pioneer in drag racing. I met Don once standing in line for the porto-john.
Also on toned tan paper, I really only meant for this to be a quick sketch, but I really love how it turned out. This one might get a frame, too. Dig the burn out smoke in white. Also some cool perspective between the distance in the front two wheels.
Day # 20 – “Tread”
Nothing has tread like the monster truck Bigfoot! Here he is crushing Tim Taylor’s 1955 Nomad.
Just a week and a half left to go!
