Darkwing, By Special Request…

I was very excited to see that two drawings had sold this week – the Mystery Machine Hot Rod Van and the Tony Stark ’32 Ford. So, by special request, I made this Darkwing Duck ’62 VW Sambabus.

Here’s the bus in rough-sketch:

I decided to work on the lettering and character next – these two took the bulk of the time.

Shades of Copic purple and white charcoal are used to fill out the color and shading. Gray N2 and N4 are used for the darker parts. Micron pen is used for the line work. The thicker lines really make the windows pop off the page.

In total, I’d say there’s nearly six hours in this bus, half or more in the character and lettering.
